All in all a very smooth going brew day. New mash water process is the way to go on this system. I just have to fine tune strike temp vs grain temp and quantity. For same batch with 85lbs of grain maybe go as high as 170 strike water, which would let mash settle at over 150 deg? |

Vented tank CO2 through hop vessel to purge air out of hops from 11 psi down to 5 psi and sealed off hop vessel
Next vented tank from 5 psi down to ambient
And unscrewed large TC clamp and heard last pressure vent out .
Opened lid and dropped in 20 oz of hops in three sacks which had been sterilized in vodka.
I reset lid but did not clamp and added CO2 to tank for about 2 1/2 min to purge any remaining O2
Whilst lid was still hissing I resealed lid with TC clamp
Pressure started to increase again and for good measure I vented CO2 for about a 4 psi decrease before resuming CO2 pressure addition.
Left tank at 15 psi
Process successful- we’ll see what beer says in a few days!

Drastically lower on Keg #6 than any other batch - mainly due to trub dump of 2 gallons, plus to a lesser extent more tank samples. I also purged close to a gallon during kegging as transfer line got clogged with hop debris multiple times.
I believe my secondary cold crash was not long enough this time at only 2 days.
Notes for next batch of Hazy - Do a high-krausen dry hop (loose). After ferment is complete, drop tank to 52 degrees and dry hop (loose) and let sit for 3 days. Then chill to 32 degrees for 4 days. Dump trub before kegging.

Tapped keg number 4 right after filling. Chunky style currently, with A LOT of hops floating around. Let sit for a few days to let it settle down. |
