Notes
  • 2018-9 batch: Weyermann Barke Pils + 16% Munich
  • next: Weyermann Pils + 20% munich
  • 5g/L saaz was delicious, but 2022-10 going with a higher IBU and "less is more" 3g/L. Also adjusted efficiency to 75% from 80.
  • no version of this has been too bitter. ignore the 45 IBU limit and go bigger
  • 30% munich is too much. tastes like a more bitter Vienna lager. Not a bad thing, but not what we're after here. keep munich at or below 20%.
  • 2023-5: pils + 5% caramunich (c40) seems to be the way to go here for body and color. massive dump of Saaz (5g/L) late hops and something high alpha for bitterness like Magnum or Herk. No water additions; Arvada Soft. Changed recipe to floor-malted but I usually go with standard weyermann pils because that's what I have.
  • 2023-8: 50 IBU of herkules was good but could go higher. Probably try 55 next time and see what happens.
  • 2024-1: dialing this back for a traditional Czech "draft" beer:
výčepní – a "draught" beer, though it can be bottled, brewed between 8° and 10°
  • 2024-6: added munich, increased FWH to 44 IBU
