Started August 2014 with a 1-gallon all-grain soup pot setup. After 15 batches, culminating in 9% smoked black IPA with oak secondary, I upgraded to 10-gal Igloo mash tun, 5-gal HLT, 10-gal SS kettle, 5 & 6.5-gal BMB.
My continuing project is a smoked & oaked black IPA (nah, make that imperial stout) in honor of the AC-130J Ghostrider and its Air Commandos -- loosely based on Uinte Dubhe, moved to Herkules & Warrior hops, 130L & various smoked base malts, aged on whiskey-soaked oak (for the AC-130W). Recipe still evolving, hope to get it professionally brewed down near Hurlburt Field.
Set that aside to work on a ruby red strong ale to commemorate my late father.
