I'm relatively new to homebrewing, but not new to beer. I'm typically brewing things at the edge of or just beyond my competency, which makes things fun and interesting. I make make countless errors. I get better each time. And then every so often I make some exquisite beer and then try to figure out why.
I have a 5 gal electric brewing system, but reserve that for beers I'm confident with. I do 1 gal batches on my stovetop if I'm not. I love batch splitting and tweaking variables with hops, yeast, and adjuncts.
I'm partial to big, malt forward beers. Imperial stouts, barleywines, Belgian quads, and such. I also appreciate unique historical beers. I don't make most of my recipes public, but if I do it usually means I feel pretty good about them.
