No fancy dan equipment yet Im afraid. A mere 34L brew pot with gas cooker heat source. A converted cooler box as my mash tun. I use a plastic bucket for 10 day primary and then I rack into a 5 gallon carbhoy for 4 weeks secondary as standard, regardless of the beer style. Bottle primed with 5 x Coopers carbonation tabs in 75cl flip top bottles. Conditions at room temp for a further 4 weeks. In total approx 10 week turn around. Sounds along time but with my system it is the schedule that produces the best results and worth waiting for! Plus 2 hrs in the fridge before supping of course!
Booked in to do a Certifciate in brewing this September. After that who knows....
Prefer to brew Amber ales mostly with a good yeast. Love the colour and the smooth flavour taste. Not huge on hoppy beers. I like what Saaz and Herbrucker do for you more so than Amirilo and Chinook. More of a malty man you might say, with just a subtle hint of hops.
That said , just for test purposes of course, I'm growing Cascade,WQV and Challanger as a first attempt this year.
