I have a recipe that calls for both pellet of one hop variety and Whole/Leaf pellets for another variety. Where I live, whole/leaf hops are not to be found except by way of mail, and in my case, not a viable solution. Can I change the whole/leaf hops to pellet and what is the conversion rate?

Yes make sure the AA numbers match what you want. Don’t go by weight

Not a fan of whole leaf. PITA in the boil kettle, even a few oz fills the hop spider and they clog pump very easily

Thank you. It looks like a 5:1 ratio leaf to pellets. The recipe just says 0.5 oz Simcoe Leaf/Whole with a AA value of 13.8%, doesn't say if wet or dried. Adventures in Homebrewing has pelets with AA 11.5% to 15%. So if this is the case I would use 0.1 oz?

I'd use 1/2 oz. of the pellets

Thank you much guys. Muchas Gracias amigos. I live in Costa Rica, and while there are brew shops here, supplies to certain hops and yeasts are limited to what is grown here.? Even though yeasts are crossed to familiar brands, it isn't the same outcome. It is an exciting challenge.
