I brewed today and my OG is way higher than I was aiming. I guess I don't have a handle on the batch size. I fiddlled with the recipe before I decided to post here so it is a little closer to my OG than the original recipe. I wanted to do a SMASH but did not have enough Mandriva Bavaria to do it.

Did you use extract as the recipe states, or grain as is in the lower portion of the recipe?

Extract. What is the best way to post Brewersfriend recipes here?

Your recipe item is grain. Change that to the type of extract you used so that the OG prediction is accurate.
Your recipe has 14 pounds of grain in it- and 0 extract. You’ll want to delete that fermentable, and instead add the extract that you used. 1 pound of grain = .75 LME (liquid malt extract) = .6 pound DME (dry malt extract) in general.

You can copy/post the link here and we’ll see it!

Oh yeah if you built the recipe as grain and then used extract with the same mass you're going to come in much higher gravity.

Not a panic, just not accurate. Don't panic, just do some math.

That is also an entirely acceptable idea.

As easy as it was I might do that often. I will need to make a hop tea to get my bitterness back. I need to search around for ideas on that.

Welcome to brewing my friend. There is always something interesting to try.

I have been brewing for decades. I am just getting back into it in a bigger way. I have done extract, then all gain, and now back to extract. I just got a Digiboil and sold my glass and got some new plastic fermenters. I am trying to get a process nailed down and learn Brewersfriend software better. I am all about the end product.

Even better!
