Not Hitting OG

I brewed a hazy IPA today but I was way off on my OG. From Brewfather, the recipe said my OG should’ve been 1.077 but I came in a 1.060.

11lb 2-Row
2lb Flaked wheat
2lb Flaked oats
3oz Honey malt

Brewed in my Grainfather G30.

Next time should I try a double pass on my mill?

If you BIAB, then the finer the better...
But also look at the settings in the recipe builder. You may have less boil off or less other losses.
How did you come out for volume?

One of the big changes in my way of brewing came from targetting OG, not volume

Was my question too. If you had more volume than you expected, it would explain it.

I,too, always shoot for gravity and not volume when brewing
 
With that grain bill, did you mash longer and do an iodine conversion test?
Did you add any enzymes?
 
I only did a 60 minute mash.

I think you guys nailed it. I did a 60 minute boil but I was in the garage and it was cold out. In these temps, maybe 90 would’ve been better. There was more volume then expected.

Yup, no big deal, it will be a little less sweet than you targeted. I would expect your FG to be 7-9pts less than calculated
 
Hopefully this is my last brew session outside in the garage. Got my sink Friday. Just need to hook that up. Moved ever to the basement. Just waiting on the fermenter in order. Should be here this week. Glycol chiller is back ordered unfortunately.

Your going to like it when it's all set up. I moved to the basement the first winter I started brewing and haven't looked back. At this point if I add anything else I'll probably need a seperate building LOL

I got a hood with a steam condenser so it should work out well. At some point we’re going to build a barn. We have 5 acres and horses so when we do it I want to have an area out there.
 
Having a concern right now. Went in to do my first round of dry hopping and there was a slight smell. I had a blow out from the airlock during the first 36 hours of wild fermentation so I was constantly wiping up stuff. Hard to fully clean it in the middle so there’s some residue around. I’m thinking it’s just that. Didn’t see anything that looked abnormal when I looked inside. Been sanitizing everything where I can.

Edit: I think I’m just being paranoid and it’s the smell of 3 day old stale beer…..(hopefully)

Let it ride, man. Things have weird smells. If it's bad, it will still be bad later. :D
 
Ha yeah that’s what I told my wife. Said we’ll find out in a week or so when I check FG to keg
