I was the Technical Editor of this book!

Several years ago, after giving a talk called “Ferment THIS!” at HomebrewCon where I talked about kombucha, kimchee, cheese, etc and making it in the kitchen at home, I was approached by this publisher to write a book. I was excited, and actually did an outline. Then I realized that I don’t want to write a book! I barely finish articles that are requested.

Fast forward to this past winter, and the same publisher remembered me and asked me to be the technical editor of this book.

I just finally saw it in print last evening! Pretty exciting for me and I wanted to share it with you. If you would have told me 20 years ago that making a little wine and then beer would turn into me talking about beer and fermentation 6 hours a day, I would have thought you were crazy.

Now, I’ve proved that I AM crazy I guess. :)

Oooh! Nice credit!

And yes, we knew that.

If you drive through Iron River, I have a homebrew on tap for you.

Great - the one person in Michigan who can both read AND write now edits. A triple threat!

Disclaimer - this is totally in jest. 4 of my kids were born in Michigan. I love the place ... In summer.

Congrats that's awesome. Where in Iron River? I'll be through there on Tuesday.

Iron River is a very small town (we do have a red light though!) so if you want to send me a heads up (I'll PM you my phone number), I'll have a beer ready for you. I'm not far from McDonald's (but since it's a small town, nothing is actually far from McDonald's). :)

Ah, but the real question is how far from the traffic light* is it?

*It's not always red, is it...

Cheers Loraina a credit to you and your passion for this hobby and fermentation in general!
Ah those who arnt half mad are boring anyway:D!

Of course not! It's usually turned on on weekdays until at least 5 PM. It blinks on weekends though. But we do have one!

It's the only traffic light with red/yellow/and green in the whole county, so it's a pretty big deal! Yoopers call it a "stop and go light', but we've always called it "the redlight" as opposed to the light in the other town that only blinks and doesn't change colors. Now, why it's a "redlight" when it changes colors, but the one that blinks red all the time without any other colors isn't, would be the question I guess.

I guess when it's green nobody notices it, but red, well, ya gotta stop...

Damm, didnt see this until we returned home! Was beautiful with the colors and weather, both copper peak and lake of the clouds! Lots of people out though, next time it'll be during the week! Would of been increduble to have one of your beers!

Well, stop by "next time!"

I look forward to

I look forward to it!! When is the book signing? Might be doing a micro brew tour through the UP ending up in door county Wi!

I bet that Gabe will be signing/selling at HomebrewCon in 2022 in Pittsburgh, although I haven't been told that. Otherwise, I have no idea what Brewer's Publications is doing for promoting the book.

We'll be in the UP until about the end of October, so next time please let me know and I'll have a good beer here for you! There is a microbrewery about 15 minutes away from me, in Alpha. It's "the smallest village in America with a brewery", and the beer isn't very good. But it's a nice setting and it's fairly popular. It may be on your route, as it's not that far off of US 2.

Very cool! I'm ordering one now.
