So....I can fit a 2.5 gallon keg in my mini fridge IF the freezer part wasn’t there. If I move the tray I gain over an inch. If I remove a few screws the entire freezer comes out and I gain another 3-4 inches. Would having the top as a freezer else to issues if I removed everything?

I'm not sure Josh i wonder if it runs on the same compressor or different line?
If no refrigerent lines I'd take it out for sure.

My thinking that your running it on a separate temp controller anyhow so dont matter if it's in there or not.

Not sure on that. I do not have a separate control for the freezer part though

I suspect the freezer coil is also keeping the fridge compartment cool. Got photos?

Yeah that looks permanent to me the refrigerant lines are running through it.
If left the lines but removed the tray so I would have a freezer area would that cause a problem? It slides out for cleaning. Don’t want to freeze my regulator or faucet

Yup. You can't remove that.

The tray is just there to catch water when it defrosts, i would guess.

Moving the cold shelf is likely difficult. The refrigerant lines are almost certainly not flexible, nor with enough slack to be repositioned 4 inches higher.

As for freezing, an Inkbird temperature controller ($40 or less) will manage the temperatures for you.

One possibility would be to make a new 'door' and bit of cabinet. Imagine doubling the inside space with a 5-sided wooden box. Insulate with foam and you have what you need. Know any woodworking??

No woodworking knowledge. I’ll have just enough to fit the keg for storage so I may go ahead and order a 2.5 gallon keg and go from there

Yeah the lines run through it so not taking it out.

Ordered a new 2.5 gallon keg, it fits will use a picnic tap instead of a faucet. Or simply take it out each time I want a pint. I’ll use this as an extra fermenter when it doesn’t have a split batch from brewing with my buddy. So win/win.

Where'd you order the keg from? I've been looking around for used small batch kegs but they're hard to find.

That’s a real good deal. I read for dimensions, which is part of the reason I got a new one instead of used. I needed something the right height and width for both fitting in the fridge and a cooler when I use it to ferment. Of course these are supposed to be the same size so I may have shopped around in vain
