Just started fooling around with this site since I've been paying for it. Trying to get some benefits. Ive normally kept my inventory with pencil and pad. Same with my shopping list. Couple questions. I plug in my inventory and for s&g asked for recipe suggestions. The site gives some suggestions for recipes that I don't have in my inventory. Also i plan ahead so is there a simple way to remove from inventory ingredients I have already planned for.
Might need to move this to the tech forum. Don't know how to do that either

I keep a well stocked selection on hand and brew from what i have, but you could use the "planning" section, but im not sure if that deducts from the totals.

planning section?

I click on the recipe and click brew it which will take out the inventory. I guess that works as long as I don't go back and click on it again when I brew. Basically what I do is measure out a few recipes and store the grain in air tight containers ready to go. So they sit there until Im ready to brew then choose one and go.

I guess its a useless tool. I noticed it only matches one item in my inventory with a recipe. It's stupid. Ill just go back to pencil and pad

Im sure it works I just haven't invested the time to figure it out. I may be trying to make it do something its not designed to do.

I understand, the suggestion thing isn’t always able to find a recipe that uses only what is in inventory. Few of us have a deep inventory anyway. The recipe library and builder is what I use most.

If you start a brew session, the inventory comes out, as you noticed. That brew session can stay open forever, just don’t advance to a next step until you actually are brewing.

I’ve stopped using it for my brew day some time ago, I print the recipe and work off that page on brew day. Works for me.

Yes I'm figuring it out. My inventory comes up in recipe builder by X out a ingredient then click on it the inventory comes up on the list so I can pick a substitute out of stock. Thats helpful. I have close t 100 recipes and always making them and thought it would be a nice feature to just search my recipes . I don't even print it out I just work off the Chromebook

I have my recipies organized by style. I type the actual names in parentheses so i can reference them later. i fill out a paper brewsheet/cellar sheet for every batch and track it all in a binder that refreshes every January 1. Obviously im doing this for taxation, but the added benefit is that i have every batch i have ever brewed in paper to look back as a reference. This is especially important for things that i dont really change on the computer, but i do change on the brew day like my acid addition and if i need to add dextrose or something to adjust my OG.

I also use the "brews" on here to help me with ordering ingredients as i can set a date range and look back at the previous years to get an idea on what i was brewing previously. it is not perfect, but it helps.
