I took a punt and sent off some VFETS (electronic switches) and a bottle of Mannequin to Harrybrew's Chris - he does a VLOG about setting up a brewery and home building his kit from scratch.
Any way that was some time ago - almost two months - and no reply from him. Well he is a busy guy after all and Covid Lockdown has not been kind to the Beer industry.
But now I got a reply on his latest VLOG. It seems I over carbed the beer - that is Youngs Beer Carbonation lumps for you - says they are for 330ml but obviously too much for 500ml of Man Pee... hehe still. See @ 16:40....

@AHarper No, I don't think you over-carbed it. Look at the bottom of his glass as he pours, my goodness there is foam like crazy coming off the bottom, almost as if he's using a carb stone. THAT is why it foamed so much, I suspect a very dirty glass, or one etched to promote foaming (but it really seems excessive).

"Quite nice" is what I heard...

I sent him the recipe too... I wonder if he will try it... with amendments of course... too much amber - well ok I'll accept that. It could perhaps use less. Amber is rather strong I have found. What I am going to do with 22kg of it I don't know....

That's cool Alan! I think the foam is entirely due to a massive etch on the bottom of the glass. So not "extremely carbonated". He also said it wasn't his favorite style so that may why his response was somewhat subdued.

Ok, so now I want to hear about those FETs...

Right, beer forum, forget it, I have my own op-amp issues at the moment...

How many do you want? They are IRF610.

LM741 perhaps?
ooo an old one there... original round metal can?

TL082, somewhat bulletproof, and I have a sleeve of them in the drawer. I'm building a laser path to replace an RF path as an experiment. The terminal node controller (TNC, like a modem for a radio) can drive the laser directly, but only weakly, so I need a gain of about 3 to 5V p-p. The detector (a plain but large (10 mm) red LED) is only putting out 20 mV or so, when I know it can deliver 1.4 V, and that's plenty for the TNC's receiver section, so perhaps I can get away without any gain there. We'll see.

I really don't have a need for MOSFETs @AHarper , and they are only about $1 each locally, so not worth the shipping. From an old project I also have a few dozen IRF510s, which are roughly equivalent but with slightly more current capability but half the voltage I think. But I'll keep that in mind.

As for old devices, somewhere (need to go find it) I have a 2-terminal transistor, literally hand-made and tested to determine its characteristics, then hand-numbered for sale. Several years older than I am. But the 741 is a workhorse, still in production.
