I got a recipe I'm looking at that asks for Hallertau hop.
It's an American book, methods of home brewing by Chris Colby.
But which Hallertau?
I got tradition, perle, blanc...

Note: I generally get European (incl British) hops. My hallertau's are Germans

I assume any recipe that says "Hallertau" is referring to Hallertau Mittelfrüh (sometimes called Hallertauer here). I've heard Tradition makes for a good substitute, but haven't tried it. I get the impression Blanc is really pretty different.

Zefram is spot on to point out Blanc is different. Hallertau is a really good hop. Tradition is a good substitute, but I really like Hallertau and Tettnang together.

Year to year these hops change, so most times, a lot of these German Noble hops can be swapped out for another and still get a really nice Noble aroma and flavor.

A lot of brew suppliers don't even parse out the varieties. I just got 8 oz. of "German Hallertau" from MW. No idea which Hallertau, so it'll have to do.

With the AA you could guess which one.

Probably Mittelfrüh, as the AA is listed as 3.6%.

Other question:
What type of beer could I use hallertau blanc for? Preferably something easy to drink with not too much hop.

I got it, but that was at start of home brewing, when I had even less of an idea about hops as now.
About 9% AA.

A pale ale or a blonde would be fine for it

I use the Hallertau/Tettnang combo all the time! I think the two together make a more interesting flavor/aroma than either by its own.

I got tettnang ;)

But not Hallertau mittelfruh.
