Looking to make an American Red Ale, hoppy, below is the "Red Rocket" clone by JZ.
  • 9.5 lb. Pale 2 Row (3 SRM)
  • 0.5 lb. Victory (25 SRM)
  • lb. Crystal 40 (40 SRM)
  • 0.5 lb. Crystal 120 (120 SRM)
  • lb. Munich (10 SRM)
  • 0.25 Lb. Chocolate (200 SRM)

  • Magnum 60 min – 30 IBU
  • Cascade 10 min – 2 IBU
  • Centennial 10 min – 4 IBU
  • Cascade 0 min – 0 IBU
  • Centennial 0 min – 0 IBU

Yeast: California or American Ale

I have some thoughts about possible changes, I have some Amerillo hops that I need to use up so thought about just Using that and Cascade.

Also thought about subbing in 1/2 to 3/4 of a pound of Rye malt for some of the Pale malt....

Thoughts?

Tim

It's a pretty busy grain bill, especially if you sub in rye malt. What are you hoping to accomplish with the rye?

Also there's a recipe feedback subforum that you could post this to next time :)

Rye - just depth of flavor.....and JZ's beer can get a bit busy
