Can someone please explain to me why I brewed good beer with a two cooler system and I have brewed nothing but garbage on an Anvil Foundry system? I can only view the pump and the coil cooling system as new variables in the brewing system. Please let me know.

Only help is make sure you atleast run boiling wort through the pump before nockout.
And same applies for cooling system be it a plate chiller or imersion you gotta sanitize it running hot wort through it once again or imersing the coil ;).

When you say "garbage". Can you expand on that?
New system will add new variables. Temp control. Etc will effect mash outcome.

I would assume sanitation is not an issue unless you are getting infected.

When I moved to a Brewzilla, things changed in the process but the standard steps of cleaning and sanitizing didn't change. So if garbage beer means, foul smells, off flavors that's one thing but if the beer is just not up to your perception then it could be as the others have stated. Things like too thin or thick mash, mash temp etc. Stay with it. It takes a couple of brews to get it dialed in. Hang in there!

Did you thoroughly clean the system before use?
There are oils on all surfaces from the manufacturing process that will ruin your beer.
The main issue I had when switching to an all in one system was a drop in efficiency, which left me with very drinkable, but at the same time disappointing beer until I go that sorted out.

I fixed that on mine by recirculating over the raised grain bed for a while, also a finer crush

I use a mash and boil but it's similar. I was thinking the same thing ... mill your grain really fine and throw in some rice hulls if you want. BIAB you can really go with a super fine crush on the grain. How was your efficiency on the foundry? Also a tip from Mash & boil is to mash with less water. For a 5.5 gallon batch I do 3.5 - 4 gals mash on a 12lb grain bill. Top up after the boil or during sparge.

I still get 80% now that I'm tinkering with it, if I do full water and leave it untouched its low around 70% so in that case I'll just add more grain to make up the difference

@Delta5Actual
You posted this question and haven't been back on the forum since. I thought maybe if I tagged you that you might get an email notification, and come back and see the responses you have from us...

@Delta5Actual
