Adding orangeblossom to beer
Hi, I'm relatively new to homebrewing and want to make an orange colored golden strong ale with orangeblossom for kingsday in the Netherlands, but I was wondering how much orangeblossom I should add. At the moment I'm planning on adding 10 grams of orangeblossom at the end of the boil.
Here's the full recipe for anyone wondering (and if anyone would like to share some tips and tricks pls do):
Batch size 10 liters
1,5kg pale ale
1 kg pilsner
400 gram vienna or wheat i'm not sure yet
150 gram munich
100 gram oated flakes
300 gram brown candi sugar
Simple 60 minute mash 65 degrees celcius
20 gram Hallertau (60min) 15-16 ibu
12 gram Hallertau (10min) 4-5 ibu
2 gram koriander (5min)
10 gram oranjebloesem (end of boil/5min)
Whirlpool ~ 80 degrees 25 gram styrian golding
Using safale be256

What is this Orange Blossom? Is it the dried flowers? Some sort of extract? or Orange Blossom Honey?

If dried flowers, you're probably okay with that amount to make it noticeable for your batch size.

If honey, don't let it touch heat, add it after fermentation, just before packaging.

If this is some sort of powder or extract, then I'm not familiar with it, sorry.

I am also not familiar with orangeblossom, but this advice should work regardless. To get an idea of how much to use, you could make a 1L tea with one gram of orangeblossom, which will be the same concentration you are planning on using in your beer. Taste it to see if it is the strength of flavour you are looking for and adjust accordingly. You could also try adding it directly to some beer, making sure to keep track of the amount used, but flavour extraction at cold temperatures will likely not be the same as at boiling.
