Not to insinuate this about OP, but give me a few sentences here
I get questions and work pushed to me from people sometimes with little or no effort whatsoever, from a job I used to do. These guys are former teammates and people I’ve helped numerous times over the years. I genuinely don’t mind if they put forth an effort and are wrong, but if all they did was hand off something because they’re too lazy to try and figure it out before throwing to another team to sort out their mess, that gets old quickly. If it’s just something simple and I fix it in 15 minutes... well, shame is the price for laziness.
In the course of doing this, it’s easy to assume a level of knowledge that may not be there, or to inadvertently talk over the head of the person you’re trying to help, or miscommunicate. Emails, texts and forums are asynchronous, and lack context of the poster’s visual cues, emotional state, etc. so a lot of times subtlety can be lost in the exchange.
I’ve been on both sides of similar miscommunication.
We’re here to brew beer and exchange info. I’d say let’s not lose sight of what’s important.
