Grain added to 3.5 gallons of mash water at 150 degrees. After lautering, 5 additional gallons added and laudered to boil pot. |

Wort boiled for 30 minutes to remove excess water. First addition of Simcoe hops added at 1 hour to boil. Whirlfloc added at 15 minutes to boil. After 60 minute boil, temperature reduced to 180 degrees and 2 oz. each of Amarillo and Cascade whole hops added for 30 minutes of whirpool hopping. Wort then transferred to sanitized plastic fermenter and cooled to 69 degrees. Hydrometer reading taken, then wort transferred to sanitized glass carboy and yeast starter culture pitched for fermentation. |
