during brew, had issues getting my starting temp right of the mash. i did strike water of 163 and then with the 9lbs, it came down to like 140/145. and it was difficult for me to get it up after that. the amount of starting water i think was wrong. it assumed only 6lbs instead of 9...if i put 9lbs of ONLY 2-row, then the starting gallons is 3.4g.. I knew it was too thick when i started and i should have maybe kept adding water until i hit the temp i wanted. i think i need a temp gauge in the mash tun (either after valve or inside it).
I also ended up with about 7.25 to 7.5 g of wort in the kettle which just shy of 6g going to the fermentor.
