Spalt hops smelled pretty good. Nice floral spice with classic hop/grapefruitiness. |

Chilled to 95F with immersion chiller then ran off full kettle contents into white brew bucket from new Marshall table height. Sealed up and put into ferm fridge (after thorough fridge cleaning of all mildew and what not :/....) at 15C. |

Rehydrated 1 pack S-189 in 110 mL water in sanitized mason jar. Boiled water and poured into jar hot. Cooled in ice bath to 86F and sprinkled yeast. Left for 15 minutes then mixed in and left for 5 more minutes. Temp down to 82F so stirred and ice bathed in 5-8 degree F spurts spaced out by a couple minutes down to ~63F. Poured into 15C wort, no shaking. |

It was a whole thing. I think MoreBeer mispackaged the Vienna or it was malted wrong. Grain tasted crystally and crunchy before milling. Wort and beer were way too dark (estimated 18-20 SRM instead of 8 SRM). Attenuation was piss poor (obviously). Beer tasted pretty sweet. I packaged 1 liter in plastic bottle with gas valve lid. Carbonating now, we'll see how it is. Dumped the rest. T.T Harvested 4 mason jars of yeast though. Time for a rebrew!!! |
