Chilled to ~75-80F and transferred to 6 gallon brew bucket from top of dryer to aeration. Put in ferm fridge to cool. |

Smacked yeast pack before bed and left on kitchen counter. Next morning around 5am (pre-Chicago flight) the pack hadn't swelled at all. Pitched into wort and left at 16C. Tilt registered 58-59F until fermentation began. |

Kegged in keg on line 2. Previously had schwarzbier. Rinsed keg with water then sanitized with starsan. Rinsed line with starsan. Didn't remove posts or diptube. Purged 5x at 32 psi. Left at 32 psi to carb. |

Beer was not too bad. Pretty easy drinking, but maybe a little sweeter than I would like. Not a ton of flavor either. Had a bit of a nice lagery taste with some maltiness, but not a lot going on. Interestingly when I kicked the keg the line just got real foamy but not big air bubbles with typical sucking noise. When I opened the keg I saw a large half circle of ice on the bottom about 0.5-1 inch thick or so. Never seen this before and I wonder how it affected the beer. Turned the fridge temp up and will try to put something to redirect cold air flow away from kegs in the future. |
