Quick Water Requirements
Water Gallons  Quarts
Heat water added to kettle (equipment estimates 6.92 g | 27.7 qt) 3.33 13.3
Mash volume with grains (equipment estimates 6.92 g | 27.7 qt) 3.69 14.8
Grain absorption losses (steeping) -0.56 -2.3
Volume increase from sugar/extract (early additions) 0.23 0.9
Pre boil volume (equipment estimates 6.6 g | 26.4 qt) 3 12
Volume increase from sugar/extract (late additions) 0.23 0.9
Boil off losses -1.5 -6
Hops absorption losses (first wort, boil, aroma) -0.08 -0.3
Post boil volume 5.25 21
Going into fermentor 5.25 21
WARNING: Kettle losses > 2% detected which throw off OG calculation for extract/partial mash recipes in batch target 'fermentor' mode. Solution: Reduce kettle losses, misc losses and hops absorption in equipment profile, OR set batch target to 'kettle' and do a full wort boil. See batch target FAQ.

Notes

We used hazelnut extract (2-1 oz. bottles) added to bottling bucket, and prime with corn sugar or DME as usual.

This seems to be way too much extract. (Bakto Flavors - Hazelnut Flavoring) The hazelnut finished seemed harsh. Use less next time.

4th Place in the 2019 Ohio State Fair Homebrew competition, 19C: American Brown Ale category.
