Put 8.5 gallons of DI H20 in kettle and heated to 174F added 2 ml of lactic acid and 3 grams of gypsum and 5 grams of calcium chloride. Pumped approx. 4.5 gallons of hot water to mash tun and should have used clamp and secured the tubing because I lost a bit of water and then over added. Temp after water was added to mash tun was 163 and then mixed in 10.5 lbs of grain and it went down to 150 with moderate stirring. Let it sit at 150/149 for about 75 minutes. Then added 0.5 gallons of 200F water to mash out. |

Seems that the specific gravity was a little higher even with a 45-minute boil. |

Cold crashed for 3 days then added gelatin and crashed even further overnight and racked into the keg and added whole coffee beans in a bag. Will taste after a couple of days to see if coffee aroma and flavor come through. There is a definite haze and I don't know if it is yeast or protein haze but hopefully the gelatin will get rid of it in time. |

Tasted it plain with coffee added and was really good. It is also really good with the whole coffee beans sitting in the keg with it. There was a lot of aroma and flavor with 7 oz beans to ~5gal of beer. Beer is still not clear though, which is disappointing and it must be the yeast or protein haze. I'm not sure |
