Strike water was 159.6 for 14 lbs of grain to mash at 152. T started at 152.6 and dropped to 148.5 over the 60 minute mash (loss of 4 degrees). |

OG is way too low; missed target by 16 points; what happened? Reading was pulled off the top of the carboy (again, I almost forgot to take sample) with a bit of starsan foam still there; could this be reason for low reading? Poor grain crush? No clue what happened |

Thought this might drop lower, but recipe says target was 1.017; not sure if OG affects the projected FG however; I would think that a lower OG would be expected to have a lower FG as well |

Pre-carbonatedsample tastes nice. Fruity, citrus, melon. No real sweet flavor like the Indigenous IPA; pretty damn good and excited to see how this one turns out; hate I missed OG; 4.6%; guess it'll be a hoppy pale ale |

Bottles varied in carbonation! Maybe consider adding priming solution on top of racked beer (that way, the solution will not stick to the bottom of the bucket as it cools) |

Not too shabby...getting there. Hop taste is great; slightly fruity; watermelon taste; aroma is a little sharp for a low-ABV beer, but is fruity as well; citrus taste coming through as well. Good hop combination, but the body of the beer is lacking. I think the grain bill might be appropriate, but the severely missed OG (15ish points too low) could have a big impact on flavor. Needs more viscosity, and a tad more sweetness to compliment to hops. Maybe change the C-10 to C-20. I'll keep amounts the same to see how it compares. Overall a decent beer for a mistake. Solid session IPA that is very drinkable, and proabably pretty approachable for those who are not into the super heavy bittered IPAs. 3.75/5. |
