Mash strike temperature was 165F, 13F too high.
At 30 min. opened lid of mash tun and got the temp down to 157F. I think some essential enzymes were killed off here, thus reducing my O.G. Like an unintended mash out to stop conversion. |

Primary fermentation complete. Transfer to Secondary for clarification and conditioning in carboy. Reducing ambient temperature to between 45 - 50F. |

Lost about 5 litres due to problem with jockey box and siphon filter. First runnings were very cloudy and had to be discarded and hops were not rinced before transfer. |

Got the gravity right but that was a fluke because I lost 5 litres in pre-fermentation cooling and that balanced the lost sugars from the strike temperature being too high. |

It tastes more like an alt than a Kolsch. It's way more malty than expected. it's good but not great. Could have better head retention.
7/10.
The true test will be the 20 litre keg to be served after the ride on August 20. |

20 litre keg was drained in 45 minutes. Great success. Everyone loved it. Only mistake was not making 40 litres. Great session Alt after 2 days of cycling. |
