This is my attempt at a juicy hopped beer. I wanted hops up front and real grapefruit tartness. Therefore I blended in a tiny bit of real hard cider juice. AS soon as I finished this in my primary, I reused the yeast by pouring in 3 gallons of apple juice in the jug, I then waited for the yeast to get into high gear, about 1-2 days, then I poured in 2 gallons of Grapefruit juice. After both were fully brewed in secondaries I started taste tests. I ended up transferring 32 ounces of hard Grapefruit cider back into my 5 gallons of Grapefruit IPA. My thought is this, if it says its grapefruit, then by all means it needs to contain the real deal. This has turned out amazing! I may try like Vermont style yeast next but other than that, I'd keep it the same. I do believe that by adding the cider, it softened the IBUs but I did hop the cider quite a bit with same hop types.
