Strike was 160, rest was 149. After 30 min added 1.5 qts boiling water brought up to 152 (from 148). Sparged with 170f. Total volume was 16 qts. |

First time using wort chiller. Cleaned off by soaking in vinegar solution (small kettle filled with 5-6 oz vinegar. Used heavy duty aluminum foil to cover pot while chilling. Left space to move chiller. Went down to 90 in about 6 minutes. Down to 82 after 15. Ground water was 75. Drained into better bottle. Saved some for Fast ferment and hydrometer. |

First use of immersion chiller.
Got wort down to 82 with chiller, ( ground water was 75f) Drained into better bottle then moved to chamber and brought down to 72. Yeast was at 70 when pitched. Saved a vial full of yeast slurry for future use since WY 1469 is not easy to get.
Put wort in mason jar (1/2 full) and added 3/4 packet of bread yeast and covered with foil and left in garage next to fermentation chamber. |

Had trouble getting fermentation chamber up to temperature. Was down to 57° morning after brew day. I had a case of black chocolate stout stored and was giving off residual cold. Took out the bottle beer added heater and then replaced the fermenter. Finally took off and krauzen overflowed. Covered by foil only. Didn't have 1/2 in OD tubing.

Tasted Hydrometer Sample. Very clean slightly malty aroma. Taste was very clean with nutty, caramel and toffee. Nice! |

Krausen has receded, still sticking to sides so hard to tell. Set temp to 70 to let it rise on it's own to clean up. |
