WARNING: Kettle losses > 2% detected which throw off OG calculation for extract/partial mash recipes in batch target 'fermentor' mode. Solution: Reduce kettle losses, misc losses and hops absorption in equipment profile, OR set batch target to 'kettle' and do a full wort boil. See batch target FAQ.

Notes

Modified an Kona Castaway clone All-Grain recipe for Extract plus steeping grain. The final specs for the brew closely match those of the All-Grain recipe, however I modified them to reduce the ABV to a more likable 5.6% vice the 6.4% ABV of the All-Grain recipe. Kona website says their Castaway is 6.0% ABV. Also added a bit of 60 L Crystal to the 20 L called for in the All-Grain recipe, to bring the SRM to 10. No comment re: SRM on the Kona site. Also, increased the fermentation volume to 6 gallons to net 5 gallons for bottling in view of dry hopping which always has a bunch of waste due to hop trub. The hops specified on the Kona site, were the ones I used. Adjusted boil volume to allow the hop quantities specified in the All-Grain recipe to hit the Kona-specified 50 IBU.
So, except for the lower ABV, this ought to taste a lot like Kona's Castaway.
