Temperature fell to about 156F during the bulk of the mash. Sample was not properly cooled, so the brix reading was likely off. |

Upon preparing to pitch another starter of yeast, it became apparent that the original yeast starter pitched was in fact fermenting the wort. A leak in the lid of the fermentation vessel was preventing pressure from building up and made the airlock appear inactive. The second starter was pitched, and thread tape was used to seal the lid. The airlock is now bubbling. |
