WARNING: Kettle losses > 2% detected which throw off OG calculation for extract/partial mash recipes in batch target 'fermentor' mode. Solution: Reduce kettle losses, misc losses and hops absorption in equipment profile, OR set batch target to 'kettle' and do a full wort boil. See batch target FAQ.

Notes

Intended to be in the family of home brews Katie Luther may have brewed for Martin in the early 1500's. The name comes from nun Katie's escape from the convent in a used herring barrel. This is the first iteration of the original recipe which seemed a bit too hoppy. I backed off the Hallertau by 1 oz.

Cooled with copper coil cooler and garden hose to 90 deg F. Added 2.9 gal room temp water, brought down to about 74 deg F. Aerated wort for 20 seconds with oxygen and metal stone.
