COOLER MASH
I heated strike water to160F, by the time transferred water to cooler, down to 155. After adding grain started mash at 150.
Ended mash at 147 after 1 hr.
Boil gravity was 1.038, expected 1.044.
Low temp, no stirring? Wanted lower gravity anyway.
Ended with 18 qts instead of expected 16 qts.
Will boil down to 12 qts anyway.
pH- measured about 5 min into mash, was around 6.0
Added about 1/2 dropper Lactic acid, dropped to about 5.6. Added another 1/4 dropper and dropped to about 5.3. |
