Was shooting for a Kolsch.
My efficiency was WAY down (expected 70%, got 55%) so I added 1 pound of DME Dark 30 Lovibond, which turned this brew into a Belgian Ale, lol.
Next time - Crush the grains more fine (four times through the mill). Sparge for 20 minutes - don't be lazy!!!

1.042 expected, but was 1.034 due to poor grain crush and not enough sparging / vorlaufing (?). Added one pound dark DME to boost to target gravity. |
