Brewing:
Pre-work - get all ingredients out, clean carboy/tubing with starsan (note starsan dilution instructions on the bottle!). Also clean hydrometer/beaker if measuring ABV.
- Raise 1.5 gallons of water to 152f.
- Put milled grains and oats into nylon bag, then put the bag into the pot. Stir it around to ensure it's all soaked.
- Soak grains for one hour - try to keep temp within 5 degrees of 152f.
- Remove nylon bag from the pot - squeeze out as much liquid as possible. Grains can be disposed of or kept for food use (makes good addition to bread, or a base for dog biscuits). If grains are kept, freeze them if you aren't using them soon - they will rot within 2 days in the open.
- Bring pot to a boil - set timer for 30m.
- Add half of hops with 15m left, then other half with 5m left to boil.
- After boil, allow to cool - put it outside or in a water bath to speed up the cooling process. Keep it covered to avoid contamination.
7b) OPTIONAL: take a measurement of the pre-fermentation original gravity (OG) to determine ABV later. Use the hydrometer and measuring beaker. Note temp adjustments to OG if needed, and write the measurement down for later use.
- Once below 90f, transfer wort to carboy using autosiphon. Top up the carboy with fresh cold water from the tap if the boil lowered the volume too much.
- Pitch yeast, seal with bung and airlock. Fill airlock with starsan mixture. Watch for bubbling in 1-2 days. Should be finished in ~1 week, best to wait 2 weeks for bottling.
Note: Keep an eye on the temperature of the carboy. Definitely keep it under 78f, ideally ~66f. Find a nice cool spot for it to live.

Bottling:
Pre-work - clean bottling bucket and tubing/siphon with starsan. Also rinse out bottles with starsan, put bottlecaps to be used in a bowl of starsan.
- Take final gravity reading with hydrometer - ensure FG is low, indicating completed fermentation. If FG is still high (>1.2), stir the wort and let it keep fermenting for a few days. If low, continue to bottling.
- Put 0.7 oz (20 grams) of table sugar in the bottling bucket.
- Transfer beer to bottling bucket using autosiphon - stir well.
- Use bottling bucket w/ bottle filler to fill bottles, cap with capping tool.
- Wait a week for fementation, chill and enjoy!
