High krausen has subsided. Racked into secondary over 6 lbs of frozen then thawed then smashed organic store bought blueberries. Small taste test before racking while getting my gravity reading. Personally, I would love this lager with the hint of blueberries that it has now just from the concentrate I did in the last 5 minutes of the boil, but we are going for a "wild blue" tribute that my mom loves and it packs the blueberry flavor in. Probably 1 week now sitting on the berries, then bottle condition. Cheers! |

Very good blueberry lager. Very nice purple color. Crisp lager tongue feel up front and a good amount of a wine flavor with some lager flavor behind. I like the flavor a lot. If I were to do it again, trying to tribute the "Wild Blue," I would probably use two more pounds of blueberries during secondary. Or more extract at the end of the boil. It is not an overpowering blueberry flavor at all. |
