A simple 1 gallon BIAB Irish Stout.
I upped the grain amount because it is BIAB.
Mash at 1 .5 qts per lb.
Mash for 80 minutes, stirring every 20 minutes.
Hold the mash at around 150 degrees.
Sparge by drizzling 170 degree water thru the grains suspended above the brewpot. to bring the boiling volume up to 6 qts. This is usually about 3 qts.
I don't have a way to weigh the hops, so I measure out a heaping tablespoon of pellets for the one gallon brew. 3/4 of the hops go in at the start of the boil, and the last 1/4 of the hops are added during the last 15 minutes, along with a 1/2 tsp of Irish Moss.
Whirlpool for 2 minutes, and let rest for 10 minutes.
A quick chill and into the fermenter with a good splash to aerate the brew.
2 weeks in the fermenter, followed by 4 days in the frig. Transfer to Ukeg to carbonate for 2 days......then enjoy.
