Notes

This is the community recipe for the first quarter of 2022, courtesy of Brian, The Brew Mentor. Changes were made for volume and availability of ingredients (the only notable changes were American Pale Ale Malt in place of German, and American Columbus Hops in place of German Magnum).
From Brian’s notes:
American Blend is usually a blend of Cascade and Centennial. Have used Amarillo, Mosaic and Falconers Flight with good results. Just not an overpowering hop like Citra or Chinook.

Hop stand hops go in @ 180°, continue cooling until 165°, whirlpool for a minute and rest for 20 minutes. Continue to cool to 65°, transfer leaving Trub behind, aerate and pitch.

I opted to use Cascade and Centennial in amounts that would deliver the desired IBU’s at the prescribed times. I will remove the hops bag at flameout, then cool before adding another hops bag which will stay in the wort until transfer.
