Good brew day with Cristina at my parents place. Brew day went well. I accidentally used Calcium Carbonate instead of Calcium Chloride but it wasn't a big deal.
I've noticed I need to over shoot the amount for the recommended Mash out by about a quart and then stir until it drops down. The rest of my temps went as I wanted. Didnt get as good of extraction as I would have liked but not bad. I might try messing with PH. The strip said my wort was 5.7 not bad but not that great either. 5.2 is the target.
Biggest problem was after airating with the paint stirrer I couldnt get the foam to settle and ended up loosing alot of beer to the floor when I poured it into the glass fermenter.
I retired my plastic bucket fermenter and will be using the 6 gallon glass in its place. It will interesting to see if this fixes my over attenuation problems. |

Very Tasty!.... I dont taste the chamomile or Rye as much as I hoped. The head doesnt stick around as long as I'd like either. I think adding some dextrin malt and doubling the rye and chamomile will help. That being said it has a wonderfull soft bread like taste and smell. Fairly hazy. One needs to be careful not to get too much yeast in the glass. Very enjoyable brew. |
