Brewing BIAB and grains took a lot of the pre-boil volume when removed from the kettle. Sparged with 2 gallons of 167ºf water. Mash gravity was much higher than expected after sparge, so used a calculator to determine that adding water to raise the volume to 7.25 gal would land my pre-boil gravity at the target 1.059 |

Underpitched dry Voss Kveik (about half a pouch) and saw aggressive fermentation the first three days. Was likely finished after about day five, but I resisted moving out of primary because I kept seeing CO2 bubbles and slow signs of activity. Let it continue at this slow pace for about two weeks before transferring to secondary. If brewing again, I don't think I'd under pitch. A full pitch of yeast would likely have helped make the FG lower than where this batch ended. |
