Split the batch into a 1.5 gallon Voss batch, and added about 1 gallon of water to knock the OG down a little bit. Next time I do all-grain this way, I should plan for about 73% efficiency. |

Good head and retention when poured, but not an out-of-control gusher/foamer. Hazy golden color. Somewhat sweet aroma. Good balance of bitterness and sweetness with a bit of banana ester (but not too strong). Other than the bittering, no real hops flavor. Hops aroma, if any, is light. Feels moderately carbonated, and mid-bodied. Balanced sweet/dry finish. The esters really come out in the finish. Overall I think this is a good example of the style but "approachable" to people. I could go for a little more ester flavor, and maybe a little more carbonation. Otherwise I think it's almost perfect and I'm going to brew the recipe again with just a few minor tweaks. |
